( Timber treats )

I always find that the excessive use of wood in interiors can often result in the space looking like a alpine chalet. But, if done correctly can look fabulous! Here are a few images I have put together, where the designer has achieved a great balance with the use of timber. In most of there images, the designer has used timber cladding to decoratively highlight key features and pieces of furniture.
I hope you are all having a great week :)

( COMPETITION: one fine stay )

Wow, what an amazing concept! 'one fine stay' gives you the chance to stay in someone's place while they are out of town. You get to live their life for a few days and nights.

The Violin Factory

I feel that visitors to London, or any city for that matter, don't always get the opportunity to feel part of the city through the hotel in which they stay. Most city hotels are very generic in style and often do not reflect the city in which they are located. By staying in a real city home, allows the visitor to feel more welcome and part of that city from day one of their visit! FANTASTIC!

COMPETITION:

The lovely guys and girls over at One Fine Stay are offering one of my lucky readers £100 off voucher, valid until the end of the year. This is a great offer to take advantage of staying in a wonderful home. You may want a place over the Christmas break or a chance to live in a luxury home and enjoy New Year in a fantastic City...
All you have to do is write a comment below telling me what home you like the most and why, from the One Fine Stay website.
I will announce the Winner at the end of this month, so be sure to leave an email address with you comment.
GOOD LUCK :)

( FEATURE HOME: Home by Chinese Jesus )

Chinese Jesus is a Venice, California based studio devoted to modern and luxurious residential design.
Their services range from whole space planning and interior design, to the design and crafting of original furniture and objects.
Their cabinetry and built-in furniture is sculptural in sensibility with refined proportions that integrate seamlessly into modern architecture.
Each project is infused with graceful luxury, warmth and attention to detail that is always an intimate and personal reflection of the client.
They employ diverse means to realise this vision: handsome woods, nuanced stone, cleanly defined furniture and fixtures, vintage lighting, luxurious rugs, custom upholstery and works of art.
Led by designers Mike Lee and Deborah Rumens, Chinese Jesus is comprised of dedicated individuals with diverse backgrounds in art, design and construction.

Chinese Jesus believes in: boldness and beauty • timelessness • enduring craftsmanship • integrity and authenticity • letting materials speak • being intimate with the details • living and working with passion... All of these are very much apparent in the images I have selected below. I hope you like them as much as I do :)

( autumn is coming... with black, white, jade and timber )

TREND SPOT:
Autumn is just around the corner and I am loving the crisp warmth of black, white, jade green.... and of course, natural timber!
This beautiful Spanish house is a great source of inspiration with it's charm, character, traditional influences and contemporary comfortable feel. house. It was designed created by the Madrid architectural company Abaton. I adore the balance between the colours and multiple materials used in this home. I'm not normally a big fan of making new joinery look aged (painting effects), but the dining room storage cupboard work perfectly.
