( Buster + Punch Lighting and Furniture )

The Cool Kids in Town

I've known about these guys for some time now and have been dying to write about them and share this uber cool / uber creative design team with you all.
Buster + Punch know how to shake up any interior with their very 'extraordinary' products. The London based designers started life in an East London garage where they discovered a passion for designing and creating things they loved, from light fittings, motorcycles, to furniture. This expressive passion behind closed doors developed into these amazing products you will see below.
Below is just a small taster of the amazing lighting range they have developed. Just check out the furniture they do too... bloomin awesome! I'm not going to put too many of their products on this post as I really want you to see for yourself. There is something seriously rock and roll about these guys... I love it.

( Shine the Light on Sunday )

Good afternoon everyone. Today I just wanted to share a few lovely lights I have recently come across. As you all know by now, I have a huge love for brass, bronze and timber combos, so there is no surprise that quite a few on the lamps in todays post are exactly that, hehehe. The first one is my personal favourite at the moment and I'm desperate to use it in one of my up-coming projects... lets just hope my clients fall in love with it as much as I have. I hope you have all had a great weekend :)

( A Great Look With Delft Tiles )

I first came across Dutch Delft Tiles whilst freelancing at a design company called Central Design Studio, working on an amazing restaurant called Union Jacks, Winchester, UK, owned by Jamie Oliver.

Hand painted Delft Tiles have been popular since the Sixteenth Century, and many of the designs offered today have changed little since then! Delftware, or Delft pottery, denotes blue and white pottery made in and around Delft in the Netherlands.

I just love this image above of an old dairy work room which shows Delft Tiles used to depict a classic dairy farming scene. Back in the 16th and 17th Century Delft tiles where used a lot in this format, to create beautiful hand painted scenes, often using the countryside as a main subject matter.
Today these beautiful hand painted blue and white tiles are still used in a tradition way, such as country kitchens, bakery shops and fireplace surrounds.
I personally would love to see more of these tiles used in a more contemporary surrounding to bring them into the 21st Century. I love how they have been used as a headboard in the first image... what a great idea :)

I have put together a 'Delft Look' Board, to show how to create a look for your kitchen. I have mixed the tiles with some traditional elements and relatively contemporary pieces to show you how great these can work with different design elements and materials.

A great Delft style cushion or two, would look great in a very clean-lined contemporary space. You can get these from House of Leisure.

( my dream home - living room )

NEW SERIES... My Dream Home.
In this series I will be creating a visual mood board for every room in my 'dream home'. We can all dream can't we! ;)
This week I have created a mood board for my dream living room. I've created a soft, tranquil space using rich timbers and soft, light fabrics. Choosing the right classic and vintage furniture is also very important to me as I feel these key pieces add personality and character to the space... ultimately creating a beautiful and very cozy living space where I can come home from work, put my feet up on my Chesterfield Sofa (covered with loads of soft cushions), and write my next blog post with a hot cup of tea.

( London design festival is here )

As many of you may or may not be aware, London Design Festival is well under way. With so many design events to see, it's hard to know where to start. I am huge fan of both Tent London and Super Brands London.
Tent, located at the Old Truman Brewery, London E1, is most definitely one of my favourite and one I will be attending this weekend (look out for a post about this next week). Now in its sixth year at the Old Truman Brewery, Tent London presents over 200 international exhibitors, showing the very latest in contemporary interior products - furniture, lighting, ceramics, textiles, materials and accessories.
Over 19,000 international trade buyers, high calibre specifiers, opinion forming media and design savvy consumers from 44 different countries attend the four-day event. It is regarded as the most cutting-edge and progressive trade exhibition during the London Design Festival and must attend for those who need to be seen with their finger on the pulse.

Here are a few of my favourite exhibitors to look out for at Tent London...

Incunabular Desk, By Invisible City

Rings Stool, By Claire Anne O'Brien

Super Brands London, co-located with Tent London - a main destination hub during the London Design Festival, the exhibition occupies a 2,500m2 ground floor space of the ex-industrial, now impressive exhibition space - the Old Truman Brewery; bringing together two floors of pure design.
Here are a few of my favourite exhibitors to look out for at Super Brands London...

Beetley Sofa, By Se London

Rock Side Table, By Ginger & Jagger

Also on this week:
- 100% Design
- Decorex International
- Design Junction
- Super Brands London
- Tent London

Have Fun :)

( autumn is coming... with black, white, jade and timber )

TREND SPOT:
Autumn is just around the corner and I am loving the crisp warmth of black, white, jade green.... and of course, natural timber!
This beautiful Spanish house is a great source of inspiration with it's charm, character, traditional influences and contemporary comfortable feel. house. It was designed created by the Madrid architectural company Abaton. I adore the balance between the colours and multiple materials used in this home. I'm not normally a big fan of making new joinery look aged (painting effects), but the dining room storage cupboard work perfectly.
