Pastel shades always remind me of those lovely 1950s interiors... cream, mint green, baby blue and baby pink fabrics, mixed with dark timbers. Well now that we are in the 'naughties' (is that the correct term, hehehe), pastel tones are just as lovely and can look stunning when used correctly and subtly . As a designer I always like to take inspiration from my surrounding and beautiful images that I can put together on a mood board.
I personally, am a huge fan of strong, deep, rich colours... but the careful introduction of pastel tones in your sample board can create a harmonious balance to any piece of furniture or interior. The images below would even make a complete pastelphobe fall in love with these muted tones.

I too am a little shy of pastels (in their true sense), however love the husky, dusty, chalky versions of soft blues, lavender, yellow etc. It can be such a nice compliment to a richer or monochromatic base pallet.
ReplyDeleteHope you are well and that you had a fab holiday.
